Attend or Host a "Party Animals" Party on April 1
WHAT:
Host or attend a "Party Animals" house party and send a message to the Canadian government to end the annual clubbing of more than 300,000 baby seals for their fur.
WHY:
Canada's annual seal hunt is the largest slaughter of marine mammals on the planet, and will be at its height in the coming weeks. In the last five years, 95 percent of the seals killed were pups between 12 days and 12 weeks of age, many of them too young to have eaten their first solid meal or taken their first swim. Veterinary reports indicate many seals are skinned while still conscious and able to feel pain. Participants can help raise much-needed funds for the Humane Society Legislative Fund's lobbying campaign to pass U.S. Senate Resolution 118, sponsored by Senators Carl Levin (D-MI), Susan Collins (R-ME) and Joseph Biden (D-DE), calling on the Canadian government to stop this brutal seal hunt.
ABOUT PARTY ANIMALS:
Party Animals is the grassroots house party network that focuses energy around legislative issues and helps raise much-needed resources for HSLF, which works to pass humane laws and has an aggressive agenda to stop the needless suffering inflicted on animals. Party Animals brings people together on one night at the same time for a party with a purpose.
HOW:
Advocates activate and educate their community by hosting a Party Animals event. Using tools provided by HSLF, party hosts create their own website, establish a fundraising goal, and send invitations to friends and family, and collect donations through a secure website. Campaign, lobbying and video materials are provided. It's fun and easy and it helps HSLF stand up for animals in our nation's capital.

Singer Nellie McKay will join The Humane Society of the United States president and CEO Wayne Pacelle and Humane Society International director of Canadian wildlife issues Rebecca Aldworth during the conference call with party hosts and guests throughout the U.S. and Canada.
