HSLF Poltical Director Richard Patch and Congressman Ed Perlmutter at a Town Hall meeting in Perlmutter's home district. |
On February 21, the Humane Society Legislative Fund hosted 40 politically engaged animal activists at a meeting with Congressman Ed Perlmutter, the newly elected representative from Colorado’s 7th congressional district. Participants in the HSLF Town Hall meeting heard an overview of animal issues being considered in the U.S. Congress and ways to make their voices heard on Capitol Hill before being joined by their U.S. Congressman.
Rep. Perlmutter thanked HSLF for the endorsement that he received in his race for the open congressional seat and commented on the importance of constituent communication to lawmakers and the ability of focused individuals to make a difference for animals. Rep. Perlmutter listened to comments and opinions and took questions from the audience about his views on animal protection legislation.
Events like this are just one way the HSLF works to build the animal protection movement’s lobbying force and to empower advocates to push forward reforms for animals.
Paid for by Humane Society Legislative Fund and not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee. HSLF, 519 C Street, N.E., Washington, D.C. 20002. |
